My Order

All cutlery is wrapped in a reusable / sustainable cotton pouch and sent with a little care and cleaning info card and order note.
I also offer gift wrapping : you can choose to add a gift box to package your cutlery (not available for cake slices at the moment unfortunately).
A little extra: if you wish to add a message, I can write it by hand on a small card that will be included in the envelope.
I don’t include any invoice in the parcel.

I usually engrave orders the same day I receive them (until 6pm), or the following day. If I have any questions about the engraving, I’ll contact you ~ please note this may delay your order slightly.
Once engraved, I ship your order the following day using Royal Mail’s Tracked 48 service, which typically takes 2–3 working days to arrive.
For example, if you place your order on a Monday before 6pm, I’ll engrave it the same day (Monday) and ship it on Tuesday. You can expect your order to arrive between Wednesday and Friday ~ though please note that Royal Mail can be unpredictable at times.
During busy periods like Christmas, delivery times may be slightly longer due to seasonal delays with Royal Mail.

Yes, I can offer Royal Mail Next Day Delivery (doesn’t work on Weekends) - please email me at lucie@maisonspoon.com if this has been disabled from the delivery options at checkout.
Collections can be available if you are based in London, please email me at lucie@maisonspoon.com if you would like to arrange one. This can be arranged most days of the week around the Bermondsey area (Bermondsey Street) during the day time or evenings in South East London (SE13, SE8, SE14, SE13). We can discuss this by email.

During busy periods (mother’s day, father’s day, November / December) this is impossible for me to make you choose your spoon given the number of orders I receive!
My stock is vintage and constantly renewed, I have very limited quantities of each piece and it would take a long time to take a picture of all my stock each time I have a query.
You can however add a note in your order : if you have a preference for a flowery, ornate or more plain handle ... don't hesitate to let me know and I will choose the right piece for you! They all come with flowers with more or less details on the handles.
During the rest of the year, I will be happy to send you a picture of the remaining stock.
The other way for you to come and choose your piece is to come and visit me at markets!
-
Yes, of course you can! All messages are possible as long as they do not exceed a certain number of characters, depending on the choose you have chosen. I will mostly engrave words but you can also add love hearts.

Yes, my cutlery is all vintage, it has gone through time and taken a few small wrinkles along the way!

This is completely normal.
Black marks - tarnishing
Tarnishing is is a natural process, resulting in the discolouration of the metal’s surface due to a natural chemical reaction with its environment. It can range from a yellow dullness to a deep black, often appearing uneven or as black spots. This can easily be cleaned using a polish product. I personally use the Silver Polish from the brand Town Talk but there are lots you can find in supermakets like Silvo. For a more natural method, you can use a layer of foil along with baking soda. There are lots of tutorials on youtube if needed :)
Patina
As you use and clean silver-plated cutlery, it develops very fine, microscopic scratches and scuffs due to the soft nature of silver. This is patina.
Tarnish is an unwanted discoloration to be removed, while patina is a natural development that adds character to the piece.

Unless stated on the product page, all my cutlery is vintage and silver-plate. I source every piece in antique markets in the UK and spend hours cleaning these little treasures before engraving them.
For the mother of pearl collection, the handles are made from real Mother of Pearl handles from vintage cutlery, while the blades have sometimes been reworked and made of stainless steel (for cheese knives and cake slices). The Mother of Pearl Butter Knives are either silver plate or stainless steel, depending on the piece.

No, please prefer handwash using lukewarm water and soap, then wipe immediately with a clean cloth. Your piece will most likely have been produced in the 20th Century and due to its delicate nature, using the dishwasher regularly will cause it to deteriorate. If you do choose to use the dishwasher occasionally, please do make sure to separate it from your stainless steel cutlery to prevent a chemical reaction between the metals. My advice will always be handwash.
